 IAS officers asked to expedite devpt projects

  • Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday asked officers to ensure development projects are implemented in shortest possible time and welfare initiatives reach the deserving beneficiaries.

  • Speaking after inaugurating a two-day conference of IAS officers, Naveen said there should be a competition among districts for realization of goals and set benchmarks for others.

  • Stating that Odisha has been at the forefront for its transformation plans, Naveen said the 5T initiative and-Mo Sarkar the twin feedback-based governance model- have enhanced people's outreach.

  • He asked district collectors to reach out to more and more people, find out issues of concern, and use technology to sort out them in a faster and simple, hassle-free manner.

  • Naveen asked the officers to focus more on farm mechanization, crop diversification, horticulture and floriculture, dairy development and fisheries. Stating that the state's' Millet Mission' has now been taken up nationally to im- prove nutrition, the CM said this sector has the potential to revitalize the rural economy. "We need to continue to excel in this sector," he said. Naveen said startups play a vital role in economic development, adding that the government has been trying to make Odisha among top three start-up destinations in the country.

  • The CM asked the collectors to provide all possible support to Mission Shaktri groups saying women's empowerment is at the core of all government initiatives.

  • Government sources said discussions will be held on 17 topics during the two-day conference, with senior IAS officers making presentations on various aspects of governance. While the first day of the conference was held here, the bureaucrats will be in Eco Re- treat at Konark on Wednesday.
