Roadshow From Sohela to Ghess

  • Sambalpur: The BJD is busy preparing for chief minister Naveen Patnaik's visit to Bargarh district on the birth anniversary of former chief minister late Biju Patnaik on March 5.
  • The chief minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Biju Expressway, which runs from Sohela in Bargarh district to Amatani in Kalahandi district.
  • He will also participate in a roadshow from Sohela to Ghess in Bargarh district. This will be his second visit to Bargarh district within a fortnight.
  • On February 19, he visited Padampur constituency in Bargarh district and held three meetings. Senior BJD cess. leader and former Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya said, "After the roads- how, he is scheduled to visit Nuapada and Kalahandi districts.'
  • Acharya further said, "We are arranging a massive roadshow which will be taken out from Sohela to Ghess. A preparatory party meet was also organized to make the program me a success.
  • Senior BJD leader and Bhatli MLA Susant Singh said the chief minister will address a public meeting at Sohela and then he will take out the roadshow. After the event, he will fly to Nuapada.
  • The 650.64-km-long Biju Expressway will connect Roturkela to Jagdalpur. The expressway connects eight districts, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Naba- rangpur and Koraput. Out of 650.64 km expressway, 183.2 km is under national high- ways.
  • While the Biju Express Way has been touted a major infrastructure project for western Odisha, in the latest budget the BJD government has announced Biju Express Way II. The new road, largely green field, a four-lane road from Berhampur to Jeypore. The 335 km project will come up at a cost of about Rs 6,100 crore.
  • Political insiders feel the BJD has been putting huge focus on western Odisha where the BJP had done comparatively better in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Out of eight of the 21 Lok Sabha seats, the BJP won in the last Lok Sab- ha polls, five were from western Odisha constituencies of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sondergard and Kalahandi.
