People demand FOB on busy city road

Bhubaneswar: The residents of Chandrasekhar Ur and its nearby areas have demanded a foot overbridge (FOB) between BDA district center and Rail Sadan on the busy stretch of Jaydev Vihar and Nandan Kanan Road.

The residents have reached out to local corporator Itishree Das with a memorandum, requesting the city's civic body representative to take necessary action in this regard. "The move will' benefit the school and college going students especially," the memorandum mentioned. "Residents often face difficulties in crossing the busy stretch and in the absence of a facility that can help us cross the road, there is often a chance of accidents taking place," Pritikanta Mohanty, a resident of CS Pueraria, said.

Mohanty, who works in a private company, added that time and again the residents have been demanding for a foot overbridge. "We met the corporator this week and requested her to take a step in this matter," he said.

Das said that she is looking into the matter, and it will be resolved soon. "I had raised the issue during the council meeting last month itself. We have passed a resolution in the meeting and written to the East Coast Railways since a part of the land where the foot overbridge has been proposed belongs to them. We have requested the railways to take up the construction of the bridge and we are ready to give a no-objection certificate for this," Das added.
