BMC shifts to new home on Janpath in Satyanagar

  • Bhubaneswar: After a long wait, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finally shifted its headquarters to the Janpath in Satya Nagar with inauguration of the state-of-the-art office in a 10-storied swanky building by chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday.
  • The chief minister also inaugurated the Intelligent City Operations Management Centre (ICOMC) of Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), which will also function alongside the city civic body's headquarters from the same building.
  • Officials said the BMC- ICOMC building will be the city's service headquarters with integration of various city-level agencies under the BMC. It will be for managing citizen- centric services, surveil- lance, traffic management, solid waste management, grievance redressal and related services.
  • "The city is our pride, and we must do our best to en. We should adhere to the rules and regulations that govern our city, so that it can stand as a beacon of civic pride. An infrastructure as this shall strengthen our urban local bodies," the chief minister said.
  • Approved back in 2017, the construction of the hitch government structure started in 2020. Missing several deadlines, the administration has finally completed the work on the structure and made it ready to function in January this year.
  • "The building has all kinds of facilities and will provide a great space to work. The state-of-the-art technology used in the building definitely stands as a testimony to the smart city. The list of great work has just started," mayor Sulochana Das said.
  • According to the space provision, the first two floors of the building have been allotted to the ICOMC while the third and fourth floors have been given to BMC. The BSCL will operate from the fifth floor and the floors above have been given to Deloitte Capacity Enhancement Centre.

  • The CM also launched Safa App, for cleanliness of the city. The mobile app has been developed to track solid waste management services at the micro composting centers.
