  • Banka: The class X board exams are hard enough, but this woman from a remote town in Banka district took her exams while in labor, and even came back from hospital to the exam center, three hours after childbirth.
  • Meet Rukmini Kumari, a 22-year-old married woman, whose zeal to study and appear for the exams conducted by Bihar School Examination Board has amazed her family and education authorities.
  • A student at the Ambedkar Residential High School at Katoria block in Banka district, Rukmini wanted to complete her exams in order to go for higher studies and secure a good job. Scheduled to take her science exam at the local MMKG Inter college in Banka district on Wednesday, she was rushed to Sadar hospital in an ambulance instead, after she informed her family about severe labour pain in the morning hours.
  • Later, after the delivery of a healthy baby boy, Rukmini re- quested the health and education department officials to let her appear in the examination. She was ultimately allowed to appear in the examination, and she completed the science paper at the examination hall. Rukmini, who already appeared for Mathematics paper on Tuesday, was under severe Laboure pain from the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. However, a determined Rukmini, undaunted by labor pain, in- formed her family and authorities about her predicament.
  • Authorities hurriedly in- formed the block and health department officials as well as the local primary health center and requested them to arrange an ambulance to take Rukmini to the community hospital at Chandan block, where she gave birth to a boy nearly three hours before the scheduled exam.
