Chinese spy: Spy: UP court extends police remand

  • Bareilly: A court in Uttar Pradesh has extended the police custody remand (PCR) of 26-year-old Chinese national Wang Goujun, accused of spying against India, by four more days, taking it to nine days that he is being interrogated.
  • Goujun, currently in PCR in Lakhimpur Kheri, will be taken to Lucknow for further investigation. He had entered India without a valid visa was booked after a preliminary probe for spying. A host of central and state agencies are working on the case, local police said on Friday.
  • The court in Lakhimpur Kheri had earlier approved his remand for five days which concluded on Friday afternoon.

  • Police involved in the investigation now want to unlock Goujun's electronic devices and get details abo-"linut mobile applications like Photo App. The Chinese national has been booked un- der IPC sections 121 (waging war against government of India) and 121-A (conspiracy to commit of- fences punishable under section 121 of IPC) along with sec- 12 of the Passport Act and section 14 of the Foreigners' Act.
  • Goujun had first visited Thailand from China and then gone to Nepal. From there, on February 14, he to- ok a bus to arrive in Delhi where he visited "many places", including some "key installations". He was arrested at Gauri Fanta-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri by Sashastra Seema Bal on February 17, while heading back to Nepal.
