Haryana vigilante leader not on Raj cops' list of wanted 8
- Jaipur: Rajasthan Police released on Wednesday the names and pictures of eight Haryana men wanted for the murder of two Bharatpur cousins whose charred bodies were found in Bhiwani on February 16, leaving out absconding Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar and one of his alleged accomplices mentioned in the FIR from the ambit of the manhunt.
- Bharatpur SP Shyam Singh said Manesar, who leads a team of guarachas and has been on the run since the victims' families named him as the master- mind, was still a suspect along with Lokesh Singhal, the other name missing from the wanted list.
- Curiously, two of the remaining three suspects mentioned in the FIR-Anil and Shri Kant - are part of the new list as well. The third, Rinku Saini, is already in custody. Besides Anil and Shri Kant, investigators are looking for Kalu, Kishore, Monu Rana, Vikas Arya, Shashi Kant and Gogi. All eight hail from different parts of Haryana.
- The police said the list contained the names of only those against whom the investigation team had found ample evidence of their complicity in the abduction and murder of Junaid and Nassir. IGP Gaurav Shrivastava said Saini's interrogation since his arrest last Friday helped the cops identify those who were allegedly with him when the crime took place.
- Another senior police officer said there were nearly a dozen suspects in the case, but investigators needed "reliable evidence" to proceed against them. On whether that meant Manesar could yet be put on the wanted list, he said, "All those named in the FIR, or whose names crop up during the interrogation of other suspects, will remain on the radar." The police seized an SUV from a gaushala in Haryana's Jind in Haryana that they claimed was the vehicle Saini mentioned as the one used by the accused to abduct victims.
