Mission Shakti members demand salary hike, dress code
- Bhubaneswar: Thousands of Mission Shakti members staged a protest at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Monday demanding a hike in salary and a dress code, among others.
- "Women from all the districts of Odisha have assembled to tell the government about their plight. Our only request to the chief minister is that we work at the grassroot level, and we take the benefits of the government's schemes to every household in the inaccessible areas. In order to do that, we need to be paid adequately. Therefore, we request the government to consider our demands," Nirupama Nayak, the president of All Odisha GPLF Mission Shakti Workers' Association, said.
- Besides hike in salary and a dress code, the protesters' set of demands included permanent job for all the community support staff, including transport cost, mission shakti card, and reimbursement of mobile bills. They also demanded extra bonus and their inclusion under the ESIC scheme.
- A team of representatives of the protestors met Mission Shakti Secretary Sujatha Kartikeyan with their set of demands.
- State president of Aam Ad- mi Party Nishikant Mohapatra said, "If the government cannot fulfil their demand, then why they have put them in trouble by calling them to the city from far off places."
