  • Bhubaneswar: The temperature in the city on Tuesday touched 38 degrees Celsius, the highest in February after 2019, as mercury saw a trend of gradual rise across the state for the last two days, the IMD said.
  • The temperature du- ring the day stood at 5 degrees Celsius above normal, the report stated. Earlier on February 23, 2019, the city witnessed a sharp rise in the mercury level to 39.4 degrees Celsius. Next year, the city's highest temperature stood at 34.6 degree Celsius on February 16, the report added.
  • As per the report, Angul recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius, followed by 37 degrees in Talcher. At 16 more places, the temperature touched 35 degrees or above.
  • Umashankar Das, a scientist at the regional IMD center, said that the prevailing trend of wind patterns triggered the rise in mercury level across the state. He said that there was no indication of a major change in the current condition of weather in the next three- four days in the state.
  • Meanwhile, on Tuesday hill station G Udayagiri in Kand Hamal district witnessed a minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius and Phulbani area recorded 12, while the city touched a minimum of 19.8 degree Celsius.
