BJD, BJP try to corner each other through rallies
- Bhubaneswar: BJP and ruling BJD on Friday hit the street over two different issues to corner the other party's governments at the Centre and state respectively.
- While BJP targeted the state government for not ta- king necessary action aga- inst the attackers of BJP youth wing members during the February 28 rally here, BJD women's wing staged a demonstration in the city targeting the Centre for not controlling LPG price hike.
- According to the plan, BJP filed several FIRS at different police stations across the state on Friday against the DGP, twin city commissioner of police (CP) and Bhubaneswar DCP for not taking necessary action against the attackers of BJP youth wing workers.
- BJP in a press statement said police and goons sponsored by BJD had attacked BJP Yuva Morcha workers at the rally. "Instead of taking action against the police personnel and BJD goons, police arrested our party workers and sent them to jail. More than 100 party workers were injured in the attack. Police personnel are behaving like BJD party workers," said BJP state general secretary Prithivi raj Harichandana.
- He said police arrested BJP workers by slapping false and fabricated cases. "We will intensify the movement till we get justice. We will gherao SP offices across the state on Saturday. If we do not get any result, we will approach the court," he added.
