Bihar BJP leaders, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh, have asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to reconsider his prohibition policy in the state, claiming it has failed to curb the illegal sale of spurious liquor, causing frequent deaths and a rise in crime.
The demand came after 20 people died in the state’s Chhapra after consuming spurious liquor. “Liquor has become God in Bihar. It is present everywhere in the state, but nobody can see it,” said Giriraj Singh.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar lost his cool inside the Assembly when BJP MLAs tried to target him over the Chhapra hooch tragedy. “Sharabi ho gaye ho tum (you all have become drunkards)”, news agency ANI quoted the CM as saying.
"Keep quiet. You do bad things. This will not be tolerated at all," Nitish Kumar was heard saying in a video.
This was after the BJP said the Nitish Kumar government was behind the sale of spurious liquor in the state and demanded that an FIR be lodged against him.
